Elkridge, MD. January 11, 2007. Global performance improvement solutions provider General Physics Corporation (GP), a subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE: GPX), recently completed the design and construction of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) fueling station for the City of Long Beach, California. This station was constructed at the city’s Fleet Services Bureau Maintenance Facility and will fuel the city’s fleet of 32 LNG refuse haulers and 20 LNG street sweepers.
GP was awarded the fixed priced design-build contract through a competitive bid process. Award was based on a combination of GP’s past experience and technical expertise. GP constructed all the site improvements, including installing a 16,400 gallon LNG storage vessel, vessel foundation and secondary containment system, electrical improvements, gas sensors, flame detection and other safety systems, and the LNG pump and dispensing systems. This station replaces the City’s temporary LNG fueling facility for which GP designed the site improvements and safety system.
