US Customs and Border Protection: Factory Floor

Client Need:

To meet the increasing demand for its services, Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP’s) Office of Training and Development (OTD) identified a need to produce higher quality training solutions developed using consistent standards and best practices and delivered in shorter timeframes. To achieve these goals, OTD consolidated much of its training production under the management of a single contractor: GP Strategies™.

Solution:

As CBP’s Factory Floor contractor, we are responsible for gaining a clear understanding of the agency’s goals for each training effort; identifying and securing resources for training production; delivering solutions on time and within budget while consistently maintaining a high level of quality; ensuring that internal staff and partners adhere to OTD standards; improving processes to streamline development; documenting best practices; assessing business cases and generating cost estimates for proposed training; and providing oversight of contractual administrative and reporting requirements. Under this arrangement, we manage and/or develop more than 35 training efforts simultaneously. The projects are varied in scope and include small, fast-track, web-based training development; analysis and review of complex curricula; and large, blended curriculum development initiatives.
