Elkridge, MD. September 28, 2010 –Global performance improvement solutions provider General Physics Corporation (GP), the operating subsidiary of GP Strategies Corporation (NYSE: GPX), announced today that its Domestic Preparedness Equipment Training Assistance Program (DPETAP), located on the Pine Bluff Arsenal in Arkansas, recently received a delivery order on our existing contract to provide support for the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive Command (TACOM) Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) Consequence Management Tiger Team. GP provides Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) detection, protection and decontamination equipment training and technical assistance to federal firefighters, and medical and law enforcement personnel located on U.S. Army military installations in the U.S. and foreign countries.
GP also provides technical advice and information to TACOM LCMC and assists them during site visits to assess the condition and location of issued equipment from the Installation Protection Program and Army Emergency First Responder Program. This contract is similar to the training conducted by DPETAP for the last decade. DPETAP was developed in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s National Preparedness Directorate and the Pine Bluff Arsenal, a Department of Defense center of expertise for chemical and biological defensive equipment production and support.
TACOM helps emergency responders operate and maintain their CBRNE detection and response equipment. The TACOM project began in June 2010 and offers more than 50 courses and exercises that range from 1 to 4 hours in length. Since inception, over 190 first responders at 18 military installations around the world have been provided more than 1,540 hours of instruction by GP’s TACOM team.
Randy Bartley, GP’s Director of Homeland Security, Defense and Emergency Management Programs, states, “This new effort to support the TACOM Consequence Management Tiger Team in improvements to the response capability at Army installations worldwide leverages our over 10 years of CBRNE equipment training experience and our top-quality staff. We have already received positive feedback from a number of installations in the U.S. and in Europe. Additionally, GP’s Senior Vice President Craig Seger commented, “This award reaffirms our dedication and recognition of providing high-quality training to our nation’s first responders and its expansion of our core competency into the Department of Defense’s first responder and first receiver personnel.”
