Situation
A major manufacturer of technology solutions completed the implementation of its SAP enterprise software solution, including Finance, Supply Chain, HR and Project Systems, but recognized that it faced significant risks in its capabilities to sustain the solution. These risks included inefficient workflows, complexity of usage, and the inability to stay current with technology updates.
Technology and process optimization to improve adoption and sustainability
Challenge
To better understand these risks, they engaged GP Strategies® to conduct an assessment of the company’s processes. They tasked GP Strategies to review the organization’s abilities related to end-user performance, business process knowledge, and organizational performance to support infrastructure. It enabled the organization to better understand current state processes and functionality to effectively provide feedback and recommendations on how to optimize their strategy.
Solution
GP Strategies compared the organization to industry standards and best practices to identify key areas of risk, illustrated below by gaps between the orange capabilities section and the green line illustrating recommended capabilities for success. GP then conducted a gap analysis and identified recommendations for addressing each risk area. These recommendations were prioritized to identify low-hanging fruit that could add great value over the short term and longer-term investments that would solidify the company’s performance framework for the future.
Results
After completing the GP Strategies Health Check, the client implemented many of the recommendations to help address immediate and longer-term risks impacting their employees. These updates were designed and implemented to improve the organization’s use of the SAP technology, as well as improve user adoption of all the SAP systems.
