Mobile Microlearning Platform Increases New Product Knowledge​ for Global Automotive Manufacturer

Challenge

A global automotive manufacturer needed to equip its frontline employees with the skills, knowledge, and technical expertise needed to transition all operations to electric vehicles (EVs) and provide optimum customer service in the future. ​

​The solution needed to engage learners quickly through microlearning lessons, be available through a mobile format, and provide reinforcement activities that would help learners retain key lessons over time. ​

Solution

The learning solution is a blended learning curriculum hosted on a mobile microlearning application that uses gamification with tangible rewards to help participants learn and retain key concepts. Axonify was selected as the solution’s platform due to its microlearning and AI capabilities. ​

​The curriculum uses various methods such as video-on-demand (VOD) sessions, online learning, post-training assessments, and virtual classroom training to teach an array of topics. After completion, Axonify’s AI provides participants with questions and dynamically adjusts the difficulty to create a personalized learning experience determined by the learner’s performance. The platform awards points for correct answers. Participants can track their progress on the leaderboard and win prizes based on their ranking. ​

​To mitigate knowledge loss, the learning program facilitates ongoing knowledge retention through continuous daily practice via an app on participants’ phones. Each day, participants receive three review questions. Axonify also provides additional “refresher” content to strengthen knowledge in areas where learners have given incorrect answers. ​

Results

  • 20% average knowledge increase across all topics.​
  • 95% of users agreed or strongly agreed that their knowledge increased through the program.​
  • 90% of participants report that the program has made them more effective in their job.​
  • Reached over 1,400 users.​

This program has been honored with a 2024 HCM Excellence Award by the Brandon Hall Group: Gold Award for Best Use of Mobile Learning.
