The work described in this case study was performed by LEO Learning prior to becoming part of GP Strategies.
Challenge
We were engaged by a major UK bank to develop and deliver a training program to meet the requirements of the UK Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). We faced three major challenges on this project. Firstly, the new rules were still being finalized during the training development phase. Secondly, we had to meet a fixed external regulatory deadline as set by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Thirdly, the content had to be engaging while meeting the strict accessibility standards set by the client.
Solution
As the training was to be delivered to a large number of learners in multiple roles and locations, and there was a requirement to provide an end-of-course assessment, we proposed an eLearning solution. For those areas of the business with more complex or higher-impact training needs, we proposed a series of WebEx sessions to support the eLearning, led by one of our learning consultants.
The Strategy
We worked closely with the bank’s L&D team on a detailed training needs analysis to ensure that the training was targeted appropriately. From this analysis, we developed a Role Analysis Questionnaire (RAQ) for the start of the course to facilitate the learner’s selection of the correct route through the course.
We also worked closely with the bank’s legal and compliance teams to develop highly role-specific content focused on conduct-based case studies which complied with both the new rules and the bank’s evolving policies and procedures.
Outcome
The training was successfully rolled out and the external regulatory deadline was met. We have since completed several updated versions of the course.
